The inaugural Finnish Squash57 Open was held at the Talihalli club in Helsinki on May 23–24, 2026. Featuring a full glass court and top-level facilities, the tournament attracted Finland’s leading players, including squash professionals, masters internationals, and numerous first-time entrants to the growing European Open circuit.
Henrik Mustonen captured the men’s Open title, defeating multiple Finnish Squash57 champion Aleksi Leskinen in the final. Spectators and online viewers were treated to creative shot-making throughout the match, which ended with a match ball served dead in the nick.
Mustonen continues an impressive season after winning Finnish championships in both Squash57 and squash, as well as finishing runner-up at the British Open, which is Squash57’s most prestigious event.
The women’s Open title went to Emilia Kostiainen, who had recently returned from a successful campaign at the World Doubles Championships in racketlon, a multi-sport discipline combining table tennis, badminton, squash, and tennis. Hanna-Mari Halme finished runner-up, adding another strong result after winning the Finnish Masters championship last year.
Mustonen also enjoyed success in the doubles events. Partnering with former squash professional and Finnish champion Ville Sistonen, the pair defeated masters international Patrick Osborn and promising junior Justus Timonen in the men’s doubles final.
In the mixed doubles, Mustonen teamed up with his sister Kristina, a former Finnish international squash representative. The siblings overcame rising circuit stars Emilia Soini and Juha Ulvila in the final. Soini is a 10-time Finnish squash champion and double European medalist who only recently retired from the professional squash circuit, having reached a career-high world ranking of No. 41. Ulvila, meanwhile, has become known both as a strong competitor and as a leading promoter of Squash57.
The masters draws also featured several high-level contests, with Finland’s Sami Mäkinen, England’s Patrick Osborn, and Scotland’s Keith Gristwood winning their respective divisions.
The international Squash57 circuit continues with the Welsh Open in June, followed by the inaugural European Cup in October. The European Cup is expected to become the largest and most competitive Squash57 event to date.
