Travel info:
- Moving around: Bolt and Uber serve Helsinki well. There’s a useful planner for public transport: https://www.hsl.fi/en
- We suggest accommodation in the city centre, and taking Bolt or Uber to the venue which is located some 7 km away. Bus number 30 runs frequently and stops next to the venue. The local train stops at the Huopalahti station that is within walking distance from the venue.
- Travel sites such as booking.com, trivago.com and hotels.com serve Helsinki well. AirBnB is also popular and can be a good option for longer stays.
- Budget conscious travelers may wish to think about Hotel Arthur and Eurohostel.
- Helsinki is just as cool as Wikitravel informs: https://wikitravel.org/en/Helsinki
Getting to Helsinki: Helsinki is served well by major airlines and the Helsinki airport is located close to the city: https://www.finavia.fi/en/airports/helsinki-airport
From the airport: The Helsinki airport is served by a local train with tickets to the city costing 4.20€ at the time of writing. Tickets are bought from vending machines at the train stop. You can take the train in either direction and it takes about half an hour to the city centre. The westbound train can take you within walking distance of the venue (Huopalahti station, 1.5 km, one can take a few stops with the same ticket on a bus or tram). Fixed price taxis from the airport to the city centre are available (about 40€). Bolt and Uber can also pick you up.
We’re thinking of a day cruise to Tallinn on Friday the 22nd of May. The ferry is a floating shopping centre that leaves in the morning and returns in the evening. The journey takes about 2.5 hours in each direction and costs about 40€ in total. In Tallinn, we can do unorganised sightseeing and those wishing to play a pre-tournament can visit the exquisite Yolo Club (https://yolosquash.ee/en/).
